Homebuyer's guide

My wife and I had been renting a townhouse for a couple years and with our growing family, needed a bigger home. We had dreamed of buying a home in our community and “window shopped” for the majority of the time we had our rental. When we finally got serious about buying, we went threw a reputable lender who said it would be no problem. We were quickly pre-approved and went shopping. Having watched the market for a long time we knew what we wanted and where. We got our down payment, paperwork, inspections, and even signed contracts. Upon the final day of financial closing, we were told that the underwriters would not write the loan and backed out. We were devastated and having put our notice into our apartment we were also soon to be homeless. With 3 children in school, we relocated to the town just north to a vacation rental (not cheap) for a temporary fix. We were recommended to Barb at Prime Lending by our real estate agent and were told to see if there was anything she could do for us. Barb pulled our credit and told us exactly what we needed to do to get things done. We did so, and in less than 4 weeks, we started the deal from scratch, closed on our home, and with a better interest rate than we had before! Barb and her associates at Prime Lending worked extremely hard to make our deal go through. They worked with our busy schedules and even with my schedule that took me far out of state for business for a good majority of those 3-4 weeks, which presented its own challenges. My wife and I cannot thank them enough for all they have done, not only for getting us into a home that we love, but also the positive experience that came with it. They were always there to answer our questions and made us really feel safe and that they were looking out for our best interests. We would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a home here in VT.
